Golf

.

It was my intention to get a lot of golf in during my trip to Durham this spring, but I did not fully appreciate the needs of a 6 week old grandson who simply demanded (and received) the full attention of his grandfather. So it was a struggle just to get two games in.

My son-in-law Anth and I had great expectations to play a number of local courses that were new to us but ended up playing the Mount Oswald and Brancepeth Castle courses which we had both played before. It was a time thing and they are both close at hand. In any case it was good to play again after this long winter even if the conditions were not ideal. Of the two courses, Brancepeth is the better. It is more challenging (it certainly got the best of me yesterday) and with Brancepeth Castle as a backdrop, there are some very scenic views.

Cathie and I leave Durham this week so that is it for golf here. I guess the good news is that my home course, Hartlen Point, will be opening in just over a month and another year of golf will start in ernest.
