The golf season in Nova Scotia has ended and I am suffering from serious withdrawal. Hartlen Point has been closed now for almost two weeks and I still want to go out and hit balls. On Monday, a beautiful day, I called Mark, the course manager, and humiliated myself by begging to be allowed to play. It was to no avail.
I miss playing immensely. This year I was the undisputed leader in rounds played at the Point. All in all I got close to 150 rounds in and did not suffer from the back problems that I had the year before. It was a good year for me and, given the number of rounds I played, I am thankful that there has been at least some improvement in my game. The suggested change in my grip that I spoke of in an earlier blog worked well and cut a number of strokes from my play. Also, all that practice putting in the living room last winter helped with that part of my game. At one point my handicap had improved by 8 strokes but that changed upward in September. I am still 4 strokes better than I was at the beginning of this year. I was also in the money in some tournaments and was on the winning team for the Ted Conrad Tournament in October.
But it is all over now!
So here I am, back to spending time in front of my computer and wishing I was elsewhere. It is going to be a long winter. I have been going to the gym in Stadacona for the past weeks but it is a poor substitute for my passion. Oh well, I will soon start dreaming of next years golf.
